By following God’s leading, we are currently serving the body of Christ just outside of Washington DC’s beltway in Northern Virginia. Through a series of events that are nothing short of miraculous, we are poised to move from our current home in Mercer Middle School in South Riding, Virginia to our own property in South Riding, Virginia. We are a group of broken and messed-up people that God has allowed and called to serve in an area that seems to have it all together.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

We are looking for a dedicated and called Children’s Director to help shepherd and oversee our existing “KidzTown” Ministry which consists of babies through fifth grade. We are looking for someone who is ready to grow with us as we prepare for an eventual move to our property. This person needs to be able to work well with our staff team as well as with an existing broad base of volunteers. This person should also be able to recruit, motivate, and encourage that same group. The Children’s Director needs to relate well to children and be comfortable with all ages. We are looking for someone with high energy, good stage presence, and the ability to lead in front of large groups. It is not necessary to lead children’s worship, but this would be a strong advantage for this position.

JOB DUTIES:

• Prepare and conduct Sunday morning KidzTown service for our 1^st-5^th graders
• Provide an effective discipleship environment, especially for older children
• Oversee the babies – kindergarten ministry area
• Plan, facilitate and actively participate in children’s activities including special/outreach events
• Provide direction and support for the ministry’s adult volunteers and adult leaders
• Pray fervently for our kids, their parents, and the members and leadership of Gateway
• Maintain a healthy and cooperative relationship with parents and volunteers
• Actively participate in staff meetings, various church functions and a Gateway small group
• Develop and communicate a long-term vision for the direction and growth of Gateway’s Children’s Ministry
• Adhere to Gateway’s Children’s Ministry Budget
• Other duties as assigned

• Skills and Capacities Expected :

o       A real and personal relationship with Jesus Christ

o       Passion to lead children to experience Christ in their daily lives

o       Knowledge of best parenting practices

o       Proven leadership skills

o       Ability to organize and implement activities

o       Functional computer skills

• Experience and Education Required

o       Children’s Ministry leadership experience

o       College Degree

o       Seminary Degree preferred
