Week Seven - Day Three: End of Day

“One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O God, are loving. Surely you reward each person according to what he has done.” – Psalm 62:11-12

If God is sovereign, and He is, then we have to recognize that God doesn’t do things because they are right or good. The things God does are right and good because He does them. Did you follow that? God is not obligated to meet a standard of “rightness” or “goodness.” He is the standard.

In speaking of some particular activity of God’s toward human beings, A. W. Pink put it like this: “Now God did not engage in this activity because it was right He should so do. No, it was right because God did it. God did not even give creatures being because it was right He should do so, i.e., because he was under any obligation to create, but it was right because He did so. God is sovereign.”1

Keep this idea in mind. We will revisit it next week.

  1. End your day by praying this: “Guide us waking, O Lord, and guard us sleeping; that awake we may watch with Christ, and asleep we may rest in peace.”
  2. Lights out!
