iLove: Learning to Love Like Jesus

Legalism is a system that misuses rules and laws to attempt to achieve spiritual success. It is based on guilt.

"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel" Galatians 1:6

In the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42, we see that Martha was making the preparations the most important thing... but Mary was making relationship with Christ as the focus. Jesus commended Mary.

4 consequences to legalism...

1. Legalism will keep you in bondage.

2. Legalism will keep you frustrated.

3. Legalism keeps performance the focus while sacrificing the relationship.

4. Legalsim results in self-righteousness.
