This week Ed looked at the next step in the ?Running Free? series, which is: Voluntarily submit to every change that God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.

We looked at Psalm 51 where King David from the Old Testament response to being confronted with his lust, adultery, deceiving, plotting murder, and general misbehavior. He as King could have killed the confronter, justified, rationalized, and blamed but he deals with God in honest.

Mini steps

  1. I have to admit that I have character defects. Change does need to happen ? to me!
  2. I have to understand that real change is God?s job. It happens from the inside out!
  3. I have to realize that real change requires my submission. It is a volunteer endeavor.

  1. What does humility mean to you? How will being humble allow you to change?
  2. Where in the past have you voluntarily submitted to a change that God wanted to make you are your character? (OR) 2A. Tell some specific ways that you have turned from relying on your own willpower to relying on God?s will for your life?
  3. What are some areas of your life that you are still holding on to, attempting to control them on you own power?
  4. What part do you play in your situation? What is your character flaw that causes you to return to the same problems?
  5. How do you honestly see yourself: as a rowboat doing all the work for spiritual change, or in a raft just drifting along wherever, or in a sailboat where your choices of putting up and trimming the sail in conjunction with the wind move you along?
  6. How can we pray for you this week?
