The Jesus Thing: Through the Moses Lens
For Small Groups
This week Ryan and Randy spoke on Jesus and the Ten commandments, how they fit together. The main biblical text is Mathew 5:17-20. Major supporting text are Galatians 5:4, Ephesians 2:8-10, and Romans 7: 4-8.
We are no longer under the law, but rescued by God?s grace and can only live the joyful Christian life by God?s grace.
Icebreaker:
Have you ever won anything in the past? What was it, and how did you win it?
Small Group Questions:
- Why is it important that Jesus did not abolish the law, but fulfilled the law?
- What keeps you from understanding that you are spiritually crippled and cannot keep the law in your own power?
- What does it mean to live by grace?
- If we live by grace and not by the law, does that mean we can do as we please?
- Is there anything we as a group can change to help us live by grace?
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory and praise of God.
Philippians 1:9-11
