Due to technical difficulties, we don't have an audio for this week's sermon.
Small Group Study Questions
Icebreaker:
Whom do you admire most? In what way do they inspire you?
Worship:
Spend some time singing, listening to worship music, or praying.
Group Questions:
- What is the goal of having a devotional life? Why have one?
- Tell of time that you ?practiced? the Christian life (devotions) and how it help in your every day life?
- Our relationship with God, and the benefits that result from it, is based on grace. We do not earn it. We do not work for it. So how does that relate to this idea of ?practicing??
- Let?s try a devotional exercise together using Psalm 1.
- Begin by reading Psalm 1 slowly, out loud.
- As you read it, each person should try to capture one phrase or one image in their mind.
- Turn that phrase and image over and over. Look at it from different angles. What does it seem to be suggesting to you? (Don?t rush. Allow at least 5 minutes of silence for this.)
- Repeat the above and this time each person should pick another phrase or image. (Allow 5 minutes of silence again.)
- Read Psalm 1 slowly, out loud for a third time. This time discuss what images caught your imagination and why? Describe what you were thinking about during the times of silence. Discuss what God might be trying to communicate to you through those thoughts.
- Pray together about the ideas and thoughts you have shared.
- Thank God for what He has revealed.
- Take some of the ideas to Him to confirm or to clarify or to adjust ? whatever is appropriate.
- Begin by reading Psalm 1 slowly, out loud.
- Conclude with setting some goals for time with God this week.
Share the Vision:
Pray for friends and family that are not in a relationship with Jesus, that they would.
