Pride - The Story of Esther

When God Seems To Hide - The Story of Esther

We don't have any notes at this time. If we are able to get the notes, we will post them as soon as we can. Thanks.

Small Group Questions

Icebreaker:

What is your most embarrassing moment?

Worship:

Spend time praying, welcoming His presence and asking God to speak you all as a group and to each one individually.

Application Questions:

There probably won’t be time to do every question but make sure you do #1, #8 and #9.

  1. Which type of pride do you struggle with the most – superiority or inferiority? Go around the group and ask each person, then ask the whole group if they agree with how each person sees themselves.
  2. Have you ever exaggerated someone’s offenses against you? Or have you ever escalated your response to someone’s offense against you? Can you give an example?
  3. Have you ever held a grudge against someone? Why? Can you give an example?
  4. When something good in your life was happening, have you ever allowed something to rob your joy – like Haman did when he was invited to Esther’s banquet? Can you tell us about it?
  5. Have you ever left an event wondering what others thought about you? Or thought that no one likes me? Can you give an example?
  6. Have you ever lost sleep over an issue that you now realize was related to pride? Can you give an example?
  7. Has pride ever damaged your judgment? Please give an example.
  8. Pride can be undetectable – a silent killer. Let us pray right now and ask God to show us where we are “priding”. After praying ask, did God show you anything?
  9. What can we do this week to give up our pride? – if there are no ideas you could suggest: Continue to pray and ask God to show us. Remember, God is our defender – He will defend us when we need defending.

Share the Vision:

Encourage your group to spend time with some friends who are not walking with Jesus – even if it is just a short relational conversation on the phone or at the mailbox. Or even a more planned time like going out to dinner with them.
