When God Seems To Hide - The Story of Esther
Small Group Questions
Ice Breaker:
What was your all-time best vacation?
Worship time:
Sing or read Psalm 116 and then thank God for His goodness to us.
Application Questions:
- Sometimes circumstances are just circumstances. Sometimes they indicate that God’s hand is directly involved. How can you tell the difference? (Note to leader: answers to this may give you indications of spiritual maturity and even places of hurt.)
- Why do we struggle as a culture with not being able to rest?
- How is the rest Jesus gives different from the rest that was achieved through Esther and Mordecai?
- When are you most aware that you need the rest that Jesus gives?
- To what degree do you think you are experiencing that rest? Explain.
- The rest that Jesus gives bears the fruit in us of increased humility and of a secure identity. Which of these is a greater struggle for you? Why do you think this is so? Pray for one another to experience more of what God has for you in this area.
- How can we as a group help one another experience more of God’s rest? (What activities or projects or … might help us?)
Vision time:
Discuss some ways you could just hang our authentically with some of your unchurched friends. Set some dates to do it.
