The Five Love Languages
Today’s sermon was based on Five Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman and is about speaking to your spouse in his or her love language.
1. Words of Affirmation
The key here is not that you feel like you have affirmed someone, but that they feel affirmed.
2. Quality Time
The key here is quality conversations.
3. Receiving Gifts
Gifts are a visual symbol of your love. The key here is that the gift pleases your spouse, not you.
4. Acts of Service
The key here is doing something that meets a need or desire without being asked (out of a heart of love). Dangers are: a) not doing them out of love, which can lead to resentment; or b) performed in love but it isn’t your spouses love language.
5. Physical Touch
The key here is to be sensitive to the touch that pleases your spouse. Not all touches are created equal.
