iMorph - Transformations
Sermon Notes
According to Marcus Buckingham in First Break All The Rules, one key truth that all good managers have in common is that they understand that people do not change much. But the Bible tells us that profound change can happen at the deepest levels in our lives. If the spiritual seeds are there in our lives, real transformation can happen.
Today’s Passage: Romans 3:21-26
Righteousness Through Faith
21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
Lookout Points
- None of us are getting it right – By the way, that includes you!
- Romans 3:23
- God offers to satisfy the distance between His demands and our righteousness. This offer comes as a gift.
- Romans 3:23b
- Romans 3:24, 25
- The Law of sin and death says that if you sin, if you get it wrong, you die.
- Change starts when I receive His gift by believing in what He has done.
- Romans 3:22, 25
- By faith, it doesn’t mean, “Oh, I believe there is a God.” But it means that we are will to step out in faith (“get in the basket”)
Experiencing the difference
- You might need to remember how much God has done in your life.
- Sometimes it doesn’t feel comfortable. You need to practice the life habits and nurture the seed that God has planted in you.
- Jesus says that in this world, you will have trouble. But take heart. Jesus has overcome the world.
